Dr. Ryan Samuelian, DC was born in Fresno California and like many kids in the Central Valley he enjoyed the warm summers staying active outside. Always an avid participant in school sports, Dr. Ryan excelled in water polo and swimming which fostered an early interest in athletic training and sports medicine.
Academically Dr. Ryan focused on science-based classes and electives, which lead him to continue his education at the University of California at San Diego where he majored in Human Development as well as taking many pre-med courses to prepare for a graduate program in the Athletic Health field. He also continued his athletic involvement in water polo where his senior team ranked in the top ten nationally and placed 3rd in the NCAA tournament. In addition to academics and athletics Dr. Ryan worked as an athletic trainer for the men’s and women’s soccer and basketball teams, and the men’s rugby team. It was in the athletic training department that he was first introduced to the many advanced physical therapy modalities that he continues to use at Back to Basics. During his time in the training department, Dr. Ryan chose to be involved in physical therapy research, testing medial loading knee braces using the Med-X technologies. Ironically it was the Physical Therapist that introduced Dr. Ryan to chiropractic and ultimately motivated him to begin Chiropractic College at the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic.
At LACC, Dr. Ryan stayed active in the business and philosophy clubs and after school worked at the school library reviewing the latest research articles for the research staff and alumni. On weekends, Dr. Ryan volunteered his time to work for Habitat for Humanity, Toys for Tots, the 2001 Swim Against Multiple Sclerosis from Catalina to Santa Monica and on-campus health fairs.
Graduating in 2003, Dr. Ryan completed his internship at Back to Basics Health and Wellness Center with a certificate of outstanding performance, then stayed on as staff, working for the previous owner for the next two and a half years. In 2006 Dr. Ryan partnered with Dr. Thomas Hewitt D.C. and Dr. Kelly Nessa LAc to purchase the practice and turn it into the Integrative Chiropractic and Wellness Center it is today.
Currently Back to Basics offers complete family and sports Chiropractic services including class IV laser, proprioceptive functional taping, and IASTM. We continue to offer Med-X spinal rehabilitation, therapeutic massage. We continue to offer Med-X spinal rehabilitation, therapeutic massage, and digital X-Ray. Looking forward to 2020 and beyond Dr. Ryan promises to continue the excellent legacy that the Orange County community has come to expect from Back to Basics Health and Wellness Center.
When away from the office Dr. Ryan enjoys time with his family, wife Megan and children Ali and Blake. He loves to travel, enjoys spending time at our local beaches and mountains, surfing, snowboarding, and hiking.
